***Update*** Dean completed the 200 km ride and raised over $10,000.00 for the Charity, the following is his thank you letter to all who donated; Hello Family & Friends I would like to thank
you all for your encouragement & support in my ride for cancer. Cancer has
effected all of us in many ways. This past ride had 3000 participants, all which
have had cancer or has someone close to them that has had it. We were able to
raise 8.5 million dollars to help the fight. I trained for months to ride the
200 km ride. This was nothing compared to the pain & suffering cancer victims go
through. A little WAX and a pain in the ASS was worth it!! I encounter numerous
people touched by cancer & learned so much. My experience was a life lesson that
will be remembered always. We fight the big fight. Thank you for supporting me
in my ride for the cure. Lets hope we can make
a difference to those friends & family that are touched by this horrendous
disease! In memory of AL my
father who suffered, this was one for the big guy BIG AL .

WHAT IS YOUR GAME PLAN? One of many challenges facing all single residential Home Builders is the inconsistency and variance in the final costs of the wood framing and interior finishing components of construction. Sometimes the budgeted figure is close, and sometimes the variance is many dollars out. This difference does not take into consideration delays and other Inefficiencies that are real, but never financially accounted for. The “bottom line” is never really your bottom line. The reasons for these variances are many as no two jobs are exactly alike. An estimate is prepared using blueprints and specifications and allowances are made for material waste. If there are no changes in design or materials, the estimate should be at best, close. However, it is a fact that experienced framing and finishing crews utilize materials on a more efficient basis than less experienced crews. Pressure to move on to the next job and “short on takeoff” covers a multitude of sins. Adverse weather, seasonal and job site conditions and material choices can also contribute to cost variance. Theft and damage to materials on site by others, but out of sight and control of supervision, does occur, so material and additional delivery costs will increase accordingly. Some Builders historically utilize a “fudget” figure that is added to the estimate to cover most contingencies. If the final number comes in under that figure, great; however when it does not, it is one more factor chipping away at your profit margin. There is also the office end of the business to consider. The estimating or purchasing personnel spend hours preparing detailed Purchase Orders and/or cost schedules based on Individual unit pricing, and the accounting end must price check and process dozens of invoices, or have other systems in place to approve payments. These activities can be tedious, and time consuming, but are necessary. There is a better way that will allow your staff more time and energy to focus on other more productive areas of the business.
Wouldn’t it be nice to “nail down” framing and finishing costs
before building and have the final accounting match up to the penny? No
variance, no extras, no surprises, and best of all … no worries. This can be
achieved by executing the proper
“G.A.M.E. PLAN”.
G.A.M.E. PLAN
refers to
Guaranteed Allocation on Material Estimates This proven approach was developed by our in house experts to take the “Guesstimating” out of framing and finishing material costs, while improving your operational efficiency and therefore your profitability. This is how the GAME PLAN works. First, a takeoff of the Framing, Engineered Floors and Roof Trusses and Finishing requirements are completed by our estimators and designers. A GAME PLAN quotation schedule is developed, reviewed and accepted by the client. Our new and improved software program combines the materials shipped and still individually detailed on the packing slip, and consolidates them during the invoicing process in to five or six manageable progression billings; e.g. Foundation, First Floor, Second Floor, Roof/Decks, Finish/Basement packages as they apply to the specific job, or a final billing for the project. All job site deliveries are included. There are only a few invoices that are simple to read and understand as well as job progress related. The invoicing details are simply a one line item that describes the stage of the construction process to date. No surprises, no unaccounted for extras, no shortages, no delayed credits, no over complicated or difficult to understand invoices, no matching of individual product pricing for verification, no added delivery charges, no paper chase and best of all, no headaches and no excuses.
The
GAME PLAN
model is designed for established
inner city lots
or
job locations that are fenced for security.
Since we coordinate all job deliveries, we can reduce material exposure and
enhance material placement with our forklift, or knuckle crane equipped delivery
vehicles. Did we mention that we are
COR CERTIFIED,
and that our safety aware and qualified staff will be wearing Personal
Protective Equipment and working safely while on your site?
Payments are allocated Terms of; Net 30 Days from Date of Invoice.
EXAMPLE
A GAME PLAN estimate for 2,000 sq. ft. inner city house including; Foundation
Footings, Engineered Floor Systems, Wood Framing, Engineered Roof Trusses, and
Interior Finishing Package. The quotation will be tailored to meet various
combinations of material requirements.
Footings/Foundation (walk out) $ 1,500.00
1st Engineered Floor & Wall Frame $
9,000.00
2nd
Engineered Floor & Wall Framing $
8,000.00 Finishing & Frost Walls $ 4,500.00
Total
$ 30,000.00
Follow this GAME PLAN on your next house and we believe
that this simple and innovative problem solving approach to controlling your
building process, while building one solid relationship, will lead to victory
over cost control and in the future you will
always …
